Call for Award Nominations – Due August 27th
It’s that time of year when we’re seeking nominations for FMS awards that will be presented at our annual meeting held at the AFS meeting in Baltimore, November 6-10 (in-person and virtual). This is a great opportunity to recognize your peers that are doing outstanding work! The deadline for nominations has been extended to August 27th.
The FMS award categories are as follows:
The Conservation Achievement Award recognizes any significant action, program, or initiative by a nonmember individual, non-governmental organization, or state (provincial), local, or federal agency that contributes substantially to fishery conservation or fishery science. Click here for a list of past award recipients.
The Award of Merit recognizes a singular accomplishment of an individual or group acting as a team or committee for contributions in fisheries management and research. The award can be given for outstanding leadership, administration, or project-related accomplishment in any aspect of the fisheries profession. Click here for a list of past award recipients.
The Award of Excellence is given for inspirational leadership in the fishery profession and substantial achievements for AFS and the fisheries resource. The recipients must have effectively communicated their work at the national and/or international level. The Award of Excellence is given for cumulative accomplishments rather than a singular effort as recognized by the Award of Merit. Click here for a list of past award recipients. This award is not the same as nominations to the Hall of Excellence.
The application deadline for these awards is August 27th. You can send nomination letters to [email protected] or 5000 W. Carefree Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85086. Nomination letters should include a detailed description of the nominee’s accomplishments related to the qualifications of each award. We encourage collaborative nomination efforts (two or more nominators), and/or multiple supporters for each nomination.
